Democratic Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes suggested on Wednesday that Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could kill any of her enemies as president since Republicans support the strikes of narco-terrorists.
President Donald Trump’s administration launched airstrikes against ships belonging to designated terrorists in the Caribbean Sea to prevent illegal drugs from reaching U.S. shores on at least eight separate occasions. Himes called these strikes illegal and equated these killings to the murder of a Democrat’s enemies during a segment on MSNBC’s “Chris Jansing Reports.”
“And look, if Lindsey Graham and other Republicans want to go the route of saying it’s okay to kill people illegally just so long as the American public supports it, the American public needs to really think that through,” Himes said. “You know, there will be a Democratic president someday. And all my MAGA friends who are, you know, cheering on these illegal killings need to imagine who gets killed when President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says that it doesn’t matter what the law says.”Â
WATCH:
Himes’ remarks followed the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10, whose death was openly celebrated or downplayed by many on the left. Ocasio-Cortez voted against a resolution to honor Kirk just days after his death and accused him of being “ignorant” on the House floor during her Sept. 19 remarks against the resolution.
Two would-be assassins also attempted to murder Trump in July 2024 and September 2024. A jury found the second alleged would-be assassin, Ryan Routh, guilty on all five counts for trying to kill Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The U.S. military targeted a boat allegedly carrying narcotics along a route in the Pacific Ocean, which led to the death of two terrorists on Oct. 22, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed. The War Department conducted a strike against a vessel affiliated with Ejército de Liberación Nacional, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, on Oct. 17 which killed three passengers on board, Hegseth announced on Oct. 19.
A suspected cartel boat was obliterated off the coast of Venezuela on Oct. 3, which killed all four males on the ship.
