Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) is owning up to his mistakes regarding former President Joe Biden — and he is calling on other Democrats to do the same.

Khanna said Wednesday that it was “obvious” Biden was “not in a condition to run” for re-election — something many his colleagues avoided dealing with, Mediaite reported..

The California lawmaker said it is important to be honest so the party can gain people’s trust back.

“To rebuild trust, Democrats must be honest. In light of the facts that have come out, Joe Biden should not have run for reelection, and we should have had an open primary,” he posted on X.

He wrote in a separate post his interactions with Biden.

“In my limited public interactions with the President, he appeared coherent. It is obvious now to me, based on @jaketapper and others reporting, that he was not in a condition to run for reelection, and he should have made the decision not to. We must be honest with people about our party’s mistake,” Khanna wrote.

Biden’s mental acuity has been in the headlines recently on the heels of a new book by CNN host Jake Tapper. In “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” Tapper calls out the people who saw Biden decline and tried to cover it up.
