Dems Post Reactions Following Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 29: Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) (L) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) talk to reporters at the U.S. Capitol on September 29, 2025 in Washington, DC. Schumer, Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) met with President Donald Trump earlier in the day at the White House to try and avoid a government shutdown at midnight September 30. Well, if you were hoping for serious leadership from the Democrats this week… buckle up. Because what we got instead was a surreal grab bag of TikTok-tier performances, cat cartoons, and late-night Blair Witch monologues. All while the government shut down—on their watch.

Yep. The same Democrats who gleefully marched us into yet another federal shutdown, then turned around and staged the most melodramatic social media theater imaginable, complete with shaky-cam horror shorts and cringe-inducing cosplay, pretending it wasn’t their fault. Spoiler alert: it was.

Let’s rewind the tape.

First came the group photo. A sunny caption slapped on what was basically a hostage situation: “House Democrats are in DC and ready to cancel the cuts, lower the costs, save health care.” Noble, right? Until you remember they were refusing to fund the government unless their wishlist was met. That’s not governing — that’s tantrum diplomacy. But sure, let’s all smile for the camera like we’re saving the planet instead of grinding it to a halt.

Then it gets… weirder.

Democrat Rep. Tim McBride — sorry, “Sarah” now — thought it would be fun to LARP through the Capitol, filming a skit about searching for Republicans. You know, instead of sitting down and doing the job taxpayers are footing the bill for. The premise? That Republicans need to “work together” with Democrats. Translation: Republicans should surrender completely and sign off on every progressive fantasy being floated this week.

The Democrat Party is an absolute joke.. 😭😭

How does anyone still take that Party seriously, pic.twitter.com/cLwVU5guHi

But wait — we’re just getting started.

Someone in the Democratic Party’s social media team had the brilliant idea to post a video of cats arguing about the shutdown. No, not metaphors. Literal, photoshopped cats. With robot voices.

“Democrat kitty wants you to have health care. Republican kitty does not.”

This was posted unironically. On their official account. Apparently, that’s what passes for messaging strategy in 2025. A digital puppet show that blames the entire government shutdown on Republican cats chasing tax cuts and vacations. They probably paid a consultant six figures for this.

And just when you thought they’d exhausted their grab bag of gimmicks, Rep. Sara Jacobs decided to go full horror movie. Imagine this: it’s midnight. She’s whispering dramatically into her iPhone flashlight, shadows dancing on her face. A timer ticks down in the background. “Donald Trump just shut down the government,” she says, eyes wide, as if she’s broadcasting from a nuclear bunker and not her D.C. apartment with Postmates en route.

Time’s up — Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress just shut down the federal government. Here’s what that means for you. pic.twitter.com/SvyenbW8iq

— Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (@RepSaraJacobs) October 1, 2025

One small problem: it wasn’t Trump. It was her own party that refused to agree to a compromise deal.

But hey, nothing says credibility like weaponizing your ring light and blaming the president for a mess your colleagues created.

Given another chance, Senate Democrats just now voted AGAIN for a #SchumerShutdown instead of providing the 7 votes needed for a clean continuation of the same government funding they previously supported 4x.

Make sense of that. pic.twitter.com/YbHz3TgSfE

— Nicole Malliotakis (@NMalliotakis) September 30, 2025

And then came the horror trailer from the House Ways & Means Committee. Think pounding music, red-alert headlines, doom-and-gloom forecasts about health care armageddon… and a guy reading a bill before doing a dramatic spit take. We’re shutting down the government over real policy issues, and they’re out here acting like extras from a deleted scene in “Scary Movie 5.”

Meanwhile, Chuck Schumer was busy peddling fake outrage over a ballroom — yes, really — accusing Trump of building a luxury event space on the taxpayer dime. The catch? It was privately funded. Not one cent from the government. You’d think a guy who’s been in politics for 40 years would know how funding works. But then again, facts don’t trend on X, do they?

And if you thought Governor Tim Walz couldn’t be outdone — oh, just wait. He actually claimed that Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress, were solely to blame for not passing a funding bill. Awkward detail: Senate rules require 60 votes, and guess who’s filibustering? Yep. Democrats.

You know things are bad when you need a civics lesson from Tom Emmer just to understand why your own logic faceplants.

Senate Republicans have the votes to fund the government.

Senate Democrats are using the filibuster to BLOCK that vote from taking place.

Keep up. https://t.co/hGJUOmQ49T

— Tom Emmer (@GOPMajorityWhip) October 2, 2025

But don’t worry — they’ll blame Republicans anyway. The playbook never changes. Manufacture a crisis, light it on fire, then blame the GOP for the smoke. Dress it all up in Instagram filters and pretend it’s 1776 all over again.

If this is what governing looks like in 2025, we might need more than a shutdown to fix it. We might need an exorcism. Or at the very least, a filter ban and a civics test.

Click. Watch. Laugh. Cry. But don’t forget: these are the people making the rules.
