Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is seen as a rising star in the Republican Party.
But don’t expect to see him on ABC’s “The View” anytime soon.
On Monday afternoon, Bryan Griffin — Desantis’ deputy press secretary — tweeted, “[The View] emailed our office on Friday asking for us to arrange an appearance from Governor DeSantis on the show. ‘We would be honored,’ they wrote.”
He asked his followers for thoughts on the proposition.

On Tuesday morning, Griffin tweeted the response by sharing a screenshot he sent in response to the invitation.
“Thanks for the invite. I understand that you are sending this request on behalf of your team,” Griffin wrote.
He went on, “But are the hosts of the View really interested in hearing from Governor DeSantis about all of the important work he is doing on behalf of Floridians to protect their health and livelihoods, to stand up for parents and children, and to defend freedom?”
“Which of the below statements from the hosts of the View do you recommend our team consider when deciding if the interview will be a genuine pursuit of the truth? Or worth the time?” he asked.

The first quote was from Joy Behar in August 2021, when she claimed, “You’re just sort of calling [Governor DeSantis] a negligent, homicidal sociopath because that’s what he is.”
Griffin’s email also highlighted a segment in June 2022 when co-host Sunny Hostin referred to the governor as “Death-Santis” and said she believes he is a “fascist and a bigot.”
In February, Hostin called DeSantis’ policies “anti-history” and “anti-Black.”
Meanwhile, Ana Navarro said in April that a DeSantis policy is “anti-Black,” ‘anti-LGBTQ+,” “anti-American,” and “what happens” in Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Finally, Griffin wrote, “We will pass on this offer.”
Fox News and Mediaite confirmed that “The View” did invite DeSantis to come on the show.
A screenshot of an email from the show’s talent producer, Todd Polkes, obtained by Fox read, “I hope you’re having a good summer. I am reaching out to invite Gov. Ron DeSantis to be our special guest on THE VIEW next season, which starts Sept. 6. We would be honored to have him join us in studio sometime in the Fall.”
He added, “It will only be a few weeks before the midterm elections and THE VIEW is an ideal place to remind millions of people what’s at stake in the election. As the most important and influential TV show for women, our show would be able to reach millions of female voters across the country on television and social media.”
