Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is rejecting former President Donald Trump’s claim he won the 2020 election.
During an excerpt of an interview with NBC News’ Dasha Burns that aired on Monday, the Florida governor was asked, “Yes or no, did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?”
“Whoever puts their hand on the Bible on January 20th every four years is the winner,” DeSantis responded.
However, Burns interjected, “OK but, respectfully, you did not clearly answer that question. And if you cannot give a yes or no on whether Trump lost then how…”
“Of course, he lost,” DeSantis responded.
Burns asked again, “Trump lost the 2020 election?”
“Joe Biden’s the president,” DeSantis responded.
He added, “But the issue is… people in the media and elsewhere, they want to act like somehow this was just like the perfect election.”

The interview with air on NBC Nightly News on Monday.
Trump has repeatedly insisted he won the 2020 election, and it was stolen through fraud.
However, several recounts and legal challenges found no evidence to substantiate his claims.
Last week, Trump was indicted on charges stemming from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigations of efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
He has denied wrongdoing and insisted the charges are politically motivated.
