Americans Will Support Socialism If Republicans Fail To Reform The System, Former White House Adviser Warns
During an appearance on the "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast released Friday, a former adviser to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy warned the free market may be at stake if the nation does not reform its institutions.
During an appearance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast released Friday, a former adviser to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy warned the free market may be at stake if the nation does not reform its institutions.
“Are we at a time right now where it feels like we’re just going to be status quo for the next four years?” former Kennedy adviser Calley Means told host Joe Rogan. “I’m worried about socialists taking over because I think unless the Republican Party actually has an anti-corruption plan to actually fix this, Americans are going to vote for a different solution.” The interview was released days after Republicans lost their majorities in both chambers of Congress following Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Means also told Rogan the Republican response to socialism should be, “Oh, we, you know, support free markets.”
“We don’t have a free market in healthcare. We don’t have a free market in agriculture. We don’t have a free market in housing,” Means continued. “If the Republican Party does not listen to what Trump said during the campaign, stop trying to subvert him, but actually — you know — try to do what he said and resonate with voters on— we’re screwed. Before you have a free market, you have to fix the structural problem.”
Means noted that this observation, which he said President Donald Trump campaigned on, is similar to what people like Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Democratic Michigan Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed have been saying.
“My thesis is I think Trump … can save his presidency, can change staff, and get back on more of — you know — an America First fighting position against the swamp and get a lot done and maybe with the Democrats,” Means later said. “I think President Trump wants to be a historic figure and realizes that it’s gone off-course for true reform.”
Means later said Trump knows Congress is broken.
“He needs to go to war with Congress, go to war with the Senate — you know — take some of the new ‘Lefties’ at their word that they are not taking corporate money and really want to drive institutional reform,” Means said.
He also argued Trump’s best way to do that would be by meeting with Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and El-Sayed.
“They ran on a Trump message,” Means continued. “Like, if you close your eyes and listen to what the socialists are saying, ‘Oh no, we don’t want to do socialist stuff. We don’t want to do DEI stuff. We want to help the middle class. We want to combat the swamp.’ … They are running as Trump.”
Means, who reportedly brokered the alliance between Trump and Kennedy during the 2024 presidential election, resigned Oct. 22 from the White House.
White House spokeswoman Allison Schuster told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) coalition “found a champion in President Trump” after “years of being on the political sidelines.”
“The Administration has already secured extensive victories for the MAHA Agenda, including overhauling the dietary guidelines for Americans, axing artificial ingredients in our food supply, and investing in regenerative farming,” she continued. “President Trump and Secretary Kennedy continue to work around the clock to deliver more wins for the American people.”
Neither Means, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, nor El-Sayed’s campaign immediately responded to the DCNF’s requests for comment.
