Former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) has announced plans to be a father.
“So, we are having kids next year, and that’s a big deal for us,” Santos said on Meghan McCain’s livestreamed show “Citizen McCain.”
“We’re going to be parents next year, and we’re excited about all the preparations of, like, you know, making sure we have everything set up. And, you know, college funds and, I mean, rainy day fund, like, all of that stuff, right?” Santos said.
“But most importantly is, how we’re going to educate our kids,” he added. “And this is a conversation we’re having now. And we’re — kids aren’t even born.”
In an interview with comedian Ziew in 2023, Santos talked about having a child, saying he would “have a child, and I will accept my kid in any way, shape or form they come, and the best I can do is teach my child to be better than me.”
Santos was previously sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He reported to prison last July.
Santos was expelled from Congress after it was revealed that he fabricated most of his resume and campaign finance reports.
President Donald Trump said he had granted Santos a commutation of his sentence in October.
Santos’s attorney announced he was released from prison shortly after.
