WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 16: U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) speaks during a press conference at the U.S. Capitol on April 16, 2024 in Washington, DC. Johnson addressed legislative plans in the House this week and answered a question about potential efforts to remove him from his leadership role during the press conference, saying "I'm not resigning". Donald Trump Jr. is taking aim at House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for planning a vote to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

In a post on X on Thursday, Trump Jr. wrote, “Enough already! If you ever even begin to start believing anything anyone in Republican leadership tells you just watch this.”

“Pay close attention to those that don’t seem bothered by this. They’re not our friends,” he added.

He then shared a montage of Johnson speaking border security and arguing the U.S-Mexico border must be secured before providing aid to countries such as Ukraine and Israel.

The post comes as Johnson has unveiled a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

ABC News notes, “The package includes $26.4 billion for Israel aid, including $4 billion to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, $60.8 billion for Ukraine aid, including $23 billion for replenishing weapons and $8.1 billion for Indo-Pacific aid.”

It points out the aid package will likely rely on Democratic votes to pass, and a vote is expected on Saturday.

The move has sparked a threat to oust him as speaker from conservative lawmakers who have voiced frustration over the lack of a strong border security bill.

Johnson has insisted he is not concerned about the push to oust him.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said, “This is not a game. It’s not a joke.”

“We have to do the right thing and I’m going to allow an opportunity for every single member of House to vote their conscience and their will on this. And I think that’s the way this institution is supposed to work. And I’m willing to take personal risk for that because we have to do the right thing and history will judge us,” he added.
