Eric Trump went to bat defending his father Donald Trump Monday, which is nothing new. What was new was the younger Trump’s timeline of events.
Eric Trump was on Fox News to discuss the current criminal case against the former president where he is alleged to have paid porn actress Stormy Daniels for her silence regarding their affair leading up to the 2016 election, per the HuffPost.
“Every time I watch my father walk into that courtroom it breaks my heart because they [the Democrats] will stop at nothing […] to take the man down and no one believes this nonsense, right?” Eric Trump said.
He also claimed:
“My father was focused on running the United States of America, not bookkeeping, not there was anything done wrong in the bookkeeping.”
That statement seems benign on the surface, but Donald Trump was not president then. He took office in January 2017.
Many were quick to point out the mistake.
