Uber cuts 3,300 jobs to fund AI and self-driving push

Uber announced a 10% global workforce reduction, roughly 3,300 to 3,400 jobs, aimed at simplifying the organization, cutting management layers, and freeing resources for drivers, couriers, merchants, and autonomous driving initiatives. The company will consolidate teams around major hubs in SF and NY and require most employees to work in-office, signaling a broader push into AI and self-driving technology amid industry competition.
