Hand of God ball sells for $3.35 million

The Adidas Azteca ball used by Diego Maradona in the Hand of God and the Goal of the Century sells for about $3.35 million at auction, well below the $10 million estimate and even lower than some sports-memorabilia records. Across multiple reports, the ball’s storied history — including decades in a referee’s possession and its central role in one of football’s most famous moments — underscores its enduring cultural and monetary value for collectors.
