Edson Barboza, 40, retired after UFC 330 due to an eye injury from the May 2024 Lerone Murphy bout that left him nearly blind, yet he continued to fight three more times despite impaired vision. He acknowledged his wife urged retirement, felt his body couldn't keep up even as his mind remained ready, and he thanked referee Herb Dean for stopping the Ribovics fight to prevent further harm.
