Maintenon fue un caballo de carreras pura sangre francés. Fue criado por Gaston Dreyfus en su Haras du Perray en Les Bréviaires, Yvelines. Maintenon era hijo de la yegua Marcia y engendrado por Le Sagittaire, un múltiple ganador de lo que hoy son carreras de Grupo Uno.
