Mark Wahlberg

By Any Means Revisits FBI Civil Rights Investigation

Elegance Bratton's By Any Means dramatizes the 1966 Mississippi FBI investigation into Vernon Dahmer's murder, pairing Mark Wahlberg's mob figure Greg Scarpa with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Black FBI agent as they bend rules to seek justice amid violent racism. Reviews praise the film's performances and moral complexity while acknowledging narrative flaws and its unflinching look at aggressive, sometimes extralegal methods and the FBI's dark era under J. Edgar Hoover.
