Bruce Campbell shared a personal health update with fans Monday night, announcing that he has been diagnosed with cancer and will be stepping back from public appearances as he begins treatment.

According to Fox News, the actor, best known for his work in cult horror and television, addressed the news directly on X.

He described the illness as “treatable” but not “curable,” acknowledging the surprise of the diagnosis.

“I apologize if that was a shock — it was for me too,” Campbell wrote.

He explained that the demands of treatment will require changes to his professional schedule.

“I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change — appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment,” Campbell continued.

The 66-year-old performer said he hopes to regain his strength in time to promote his upcoming comedy film, Ernie & Emma, later this year.

“There are several cons this year summer that I have to cancel,” he wrote. “Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand.”

Should Bruce Campbell focus on his treatment and pause public appearances?

Campbell made clear that he was not seeking sympathy or medical advice from the public.

“I’m not trying to enlist sympathy — or advice,” he added.

“I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b—- and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!”

Campbell rose to fame portraying Ash Williams in the 1981 horror classic “The Evil Dead,” a role that became synonymous with his career.

Beyond horror, he built a steady television presence, including roles on “Burn Notice,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess.”

He has also been a frequent collaborator with filmmaker Sam Raimi, appearing in cameo roles in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.

For now, Campbell says his focus is squarely on treatment, with hopes of returning to fans soon.
