The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) released its second wave of offensive ads on Monday targeting Democrats in the key battlegrounds of Arizona, New Hampshire and Wisconsin.
The six-figure ad campaign, titled “Left’s Most Wanted,” will run through Election Day targeting eight state Democrats on their immigration, crime and economic policy, according to a press release obtained first by the Daily Caller News Foundation. Currently, Republicans control 57 state legislative chambers while Democrats control 42, leaving Democrats just five chambers away from gaining a national majority.
“Across these key battleground states, Republicans have a strong slate of candidates running to win or flip seats from Democrats who continue to run further and further to the left of their voters in their respective swing districts,” the press release reads. “In nearly every district we’re targeting, the margin of victory during recent Presidential elections has been razor-thin — less than five points — underscoring just how competitive these races will be in November.”
The ad campaign is targeting eight Democrats, including Arizona State Sen. Christine Marsh, State Rep. Keith Seaman and State Rep. candidate Brandy Reese, New Hampshire State Sens. Shannon Chandley and Donna Soucy, as well as Wisconsin State Assembly candidates David Marstellar, Joe Sheehan and LuAnn Bird, according to the press release.
An ad in the campaign targeting Soucy’s voting record claims she “protected sanctuary cities” and that she prioritized “illegal immigrants over community.”
“Community is vital, and that’s why we look out for our neighbors,” the ad said. “But Donna Soucy voted to protect sanctuary cities, effectively putting illegal immigrants over our community. Donna Soucy isn’t looking out for us.”
The ad campaign also calls out Bird for her economic policies, saying Wisconsinites “can’t afford” to live under her leadership.
“Wisconsin families are struggling with higher costs, but out-of-touch liberals couldn’t care less,” the ad says. “LuAnn Bird wants to join those Democrat legislators and raise our taxes. With her in the legislature, you’d pay even more.”
Another ad also targeted Marsh, arguing her record is soft on crime, saying she “voted against increasing penalties for repeated theft.”
“Break the law, pay the price,” the ad said. “It’s just common sense. Unless you’re Christine Marsh. Christine Marsh voted against increasing penalties for thieves repeatedly ransacking Arizona businesses. With Christine Marsh, criminals thrive while we pay the price.”
Marsh, Seaman, Reese, Chandler and Soucy’s offices, as well as Marstellar, Sheenan and Bird’s campaigns, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.
