Dr. Anthony Fauci has a message for hesitant Americans regarding the coronavirus vaccine: “Get over it.”
Fauci was asked what his “understanding in the administration” is “of how to get over the wall” as the U.S. is “hitting a wall in this country on the vaccine and vaccine uptake.”
The nation’s top infectious disease expert told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, “This is not complicated. We’re not asking anybody to make any political statement one way or another. We’re saying try and save your life, and that of your family, and that of the community.”
“Here we have a vaccine that’s highly, highly effective in preventing disease and certainly, in preventing severe disease and hospitalization. It’s easy to get, it’s free, and it’s readily available,” he continued.
Fauci then added, “So, you know, you’ve got to ask, what is the problem? Get over it. Get over this political statement. Just get over it and try and save the lives of yourself and your family.”

Three coronavirus vaccines in the U.S. were issued emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Some experts are pushing for the FDA to fully approve the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. They believe this will help address vaccine hesitancy. Both Pfizer and Moderna have applied for full approval.
More than 383 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed in the U.S., as of Wednesday morning.
Roughly 182.9 million people in the U.S. have received at least one dose, which includes about 157.9 million people who are fully vaccinated, as of Wednesday, according to The New York Times.
