An investigative reporter from the conservative outlet The Blaze has been arrested over his actions at the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot.

On Friday, video showed The Blaze investigative report Steve Baker being walked out of a building apparently by FBI agents as he self-surrendered.

Baker’s arrest sparked fury on social media:

The Biden regime just arrested journalist Steve Baker for covering Jan6.

Owen Shroyer was locked up as well.

Free Press is dead in America when the government jails journalists who refuse to report the regime’s political agenda and lies. https://t.co/Sn2SD9FXyD

The Biden Administration has arrested @TPC4USA for the crime of doing objective journalism in Washington D.C. on Jan 6.

They are jailing journalists.

I am begging those with any dignity on the Left to set aside their bias and speak up. You will not be spared from this snare. https://t.co/ZsOdsS7BcX

This an outrageous violation of the 1st Amendment by the Biden administration. Shameful. https://t.co/aOol5h3QqY

On Tuesday, Baker posted on X, “This time, it’s really happening. Unlike the two previous threats my attorneys received from [FBI/Department of Justice] my self-surrender for alleged J6 crimes is set for this Friday morning in Dallas, TX. There is now a signed arrest warrant.”

“My attorneys have also been assured by the gov. that this will be an ‘in and out’ affair and that they have ‘no intention’ of detaining me. But, rather than issuing a simple order to appear, they seem to feel the need to give me a dose of the personal humiliation treatment,” he added.

🚨BREAKING🧵- This time, it’s really happening.

Unlike the two previous threats my attorneys received from @FBI / @thejusticedept (Nov. 21 and Dec. 23), my self-surrender for alleged J6 crimes is set for this Friday morning in Dallas, TX. There is now a signed arrest warrant.⬇️

We do not yet know the specific charges. Technically … they are still “under seal” until the warrant is served. All else is as yet unknown. By this weekend, I will officially be a misdemeanor domestic journo-terrorist. (Something like that.) And so it begins.⬇️

At the time, Baker said he did not know what the charges he was facing were.

But on Friday, the criminal complaint was released showing Baker was being charged with four misdemeanor charges including: “knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority,” “disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds,” “disorderly conduct in a Capitol building,” and “parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.”
