A Biden-appointed federal judge just dropped a bombshell on law enforcement trying to keep chaos at bay in Minneapolis.

As violent unrest surges once again in the left-wing stronghold, U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez issued an order late Friday night that restricts ICE agents from detaining or using force against so-called “peaceful protesters”—unless they can prove probable cause or reasonable suspicion that a crime is being committed.

The order, predictably cheered by anti-ICE activists, adds yet another layer of legal red tape for federal officers attempting to do their jobs in a city that’s become a hotbed for organized resistance against immigration enforcement.

Menendez even spelled out that simply following law enforcement officers “at an appropriate distance” is not reason enough to act.

What’s playing out in Minneapolis isn’t some spontaneous protest—it’s a full-blown operation. That’s the word from Fox News’ Alexis McAdams, who reported that ICE agents are being stalked, doxxed, and harassed by activists who behave more like trained operatives than demonstrators. License plates are being photographed, data is collected, and federal agents are now the hunted.

Should ICE agents have more freedom to act during protests in Minneapolis?

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin didn’t mince words in her response: “Rioting is dangerous. Obstructing law enforcement is a federal crime. Assaulting law enforcement is a felony.”

According to McLaughlin, ICE officers are under siege—facing fireworks, slashed tires, assaults, and attempts to weaponize vehicles against them. Yet under intense pressure and life-threatening situations, agents have exercised restraint and used “the minimum amount of force necessary.”

Earlier this month, that restraint was put to the test when an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good, who allegedly rammed him with her vehicle during an operation. DHS confirmed the officer suffered internal bleeding and acted in self-defense—potentially saving lives in the process.

As Minneapolis spirals into yet another chapter of chaos, ICE agents are expected to maintain law and order with their hands tied behind their backs. And once again, it’s the rule-followers—not the rioters—who are being reined in.
