Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) is passing on some advice straight from Taylor Swift’s playlist —“You need to calm down.”

The Pennsylvania lawmaker didn’t use those exact words when talking about President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland, but the intent was the same when he and Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) appeared on Fox News Tuesday night.

“There’s a lot of talk about Greenland, for example, and … there’s a lot of freak-outs and of course, I would never support taking it by force,” Fetterman said, per The Hill.

He continued by saying it’s “responsible conversation“ and likening this transition with the Louisiana Purchase.

“If anyone thinks that’s bonkers, it’s like, well, remember the Louisiana Purchase?” Fetterman said. “I think Alaska was a pretty great deal, too.”

The United States purchased land west of the Mississippi from the French in 1803. Alaska was purchased in 1867 from the Russian Empire.

Fetterman said he was “open to having all kinds of conversations.”

“Some things might work out, some may not, but that’s part of ongoing dialogue,” Fetterman continued.

Trump spoke about acquiring Greenland at a press conference Tuesday at Mar-a-Largo.

Some have believed an acquisition like this is impossible, especially since Denmark has said Greenland is not for sale.

In the meantime, Fetterman said his fellow Democrats need to refrain from getting riled up over everything Trump says — especially since he has another two weeks before he retakes the Oval Office.

“It’s not helpful to freak out. Some things might work out, some may not,” Fetterman said.

“We really need to pace ourselves if we’re going to freak out over every last tweet or every last conversation or press conference,” he added.

"It's a responsible conversation […] Remember the Louisiana Purchase? I think Alaska was a pretty great deal, too."
