President Donald Trump has refused to concede after President-elect Joe Biden garnered more than necessary 270 Electoral College votes to win the White House, and a former Republican vice president is telling Trump it is time to concede defeat.

“It’s time to move on,” former Vice President Dan Quayle told The New York Times on Monday.

Quayle, who was the vice president under President George H.W. Bush when President Bill Clinton defeated Bush, said, “You know, it’s tough in defeat.”

There have been 10 incumbent presidents who lost a second term in U.S. history.

He added, “Unfortunately, we were the last incumbent president to lose, and it’s not easy. But we’ve had enough time to look at what’s going on, there have been a lot of allegations they continue to investigate, but from my viewpoint I don’t think there’s any systemic fraud.”

The former Republican vice president said he hopes for a message to come from the White House “sooner rather than later.”

“It’s time to move on, and therefore I hope that there’s some sort of announcement from the White House sooner rather than later.”

Despite Biden garnering the electoral votes to win the presidency, Trump has continued to declare, “WE WILL WIN!” he wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning.

The president is not going down without a fight as he has filed lawsuits and claimed, without evidence, the election results were flawed.
