Singer-songwriter Garth Brooks is planning a live Facebook concert amid the coronavirus outbreak.

During a discussion on his live show “Inside Studio G,” Brooks read a tweet from a fan asking if he would do a live set on the social network. He thought it would be a great idea and agreed to make it happen.

“Let’s do that! This will be cool,” Brooks said in response to the request.

The famed country singer shared details about the free online concert, and revealed he might even be joined by his wife Trisha Yearwood. Brooks will also be taking requests for the upcoming online concert.

The latest news about Brooks’ concert comes as coronavirus cases are gradually increasing in Oklahoma where the country singer and his wife live.

Oklahoma has joined many states in the United States by opting to close its schools amid growing concerns about the coronavirus. The Oklahoma State Board of Education approved a vote to close schools until April 6 to minimize the chances of spreading the virus.

“This is not a simple decision that we bring this recommendation to you today,” Superintendent Joy Hofmeister said to the board. “It will be challenging for many families. Nothing takes precedence over the health and well-being of our people — nothing.”

On Thursday, the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department announced temporarily closure and noted temporary business closures and event changes around the state.

Brooks’ 30-minute to an hour-long concert is scheduled for next Monday at 7 p.m. EST.
