George Conway’s group The Lincoln Project is firing back in response to President Donald Trump’s stark disapproval of the organization’s coronavirus advertisement.
After Trump’s tweetstorm, The Lincoln Project quickly fired back with what they describe as a “bedtime story.”
“Since you are awake and trolling the internet, [Donald Trump], here is a little bedtime story just for you … good night, Mr. President,” the Lincoln Project tweeted.
“Hard to say when you look smaller, Mr. President [Donald Trump] …when you are sitting on your little stool in front of the magnificent Lincoln monument, or right here, at 1:00 in the morning, tapping away on your phone.”

George Conway — husband of counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway — also fired back at Trump’s late-night tweets with a series of tweets of his own. He also included an open letter to Trump that he signed with the name, “Moonface.” One tweet also suggested that another advertisement might be released in the near future.

I guess our next ad should be “Moron in America.”@ProjectLincoln@realDonaldTrump https://t.co/b4GDxIqNT0

Dear Mr. President:

My friend @WindsorMann, who gave me the idea that we do a “Mourning in America” (not “Morning”) ad, is sad you didn’t rage-tweet at him. Could you take a moment from your busy day of abject self-pity to attack him? Many thanks.
Love,
Your friend,
Moonface https://t.co/FUZr78PfIO pic.twitter.com/V5z2Wr0emO
It’s really dark and empty in here. Perfect for social distancing. Lots of bats tho. Please bring lights and furniture. https://t.co/xgIKQDLt5i

Now, to complete the picture, all we need are the details on the hamburgers Trump was eating while watching Tucker (“working”). Cheese? American or cheddar? Medium or medium rare? Pickle? Fries? https://t.co/LfPvo9gv5Z

So I have an idea for another ad. Orangeface isn’t gonna like it.

The response follows a string of tweets unleashed by Trump.
On Tuesday morning, the president took to Twitter with a series of tweets directed toward The Lincoln Project, which consists of Republicans — including prominent members like George Conway, Steve Schmidt, and Rick Wilson — who are not in favor of Trump being reelected.
Trump referred to the group as “RINO,” Republicans In Name Only, labeling them as “loser types” for their “many failures.”

Then, he took direct aim at George Conway calling him a “Moonface.” He also called the group a “disgrace to Honest Abe.”

The group’s co-founder, Jennifer Horn, also said in response to Trump’s tweets that they “just how unstable and unfit for office he really is.”
Trump’s tweets follow the release of The Lincoln Project’s advertisement on Monday. The Republican-backed group, dedicated to preventing Trump’s reelection, shared the advertisement via Twitter.
With the video, the group expressed concern about the economic aftermath the country is facing as a result of Trump’s coronavirus handling.
The tweet reads, “[Donald Trump’s] failed presidency has left the nation weaker, sicker, and teetering on the verge of a new Great Depression. There’s mourning in America.”

The group holds Trump responsible for what it calls the “worst economy in decades.” In the video, the president is also accused of bailing out “Wall Street but not Main Street.”
The Lincoln Project has also publicly endorsed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, as previously reported on IJR.
