Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she was not considering launching a 2028 presidential bid during an interview with German show Tagesschau posted to YouTube on Tuesday.

Clinton attended the Munich Security Conference while in Germany, which featured other potential Democratic 2028 presidential contenders. However, when host Sandra Maischberger asked if she was “thinking about running again,” Clinton — who lost her 2008 and 2016 presidential bids — immediately said she was not. (RELATED: REPORT: Bill Clinton Took Epstein And Maxwell To King’s Wedding)

“No. No, I’m not. But I think we’ll have some very good candidates,” Clinton said. “Some of them were at Munich.”

Maischberger mentioned Democratic California Gov. Newsom was one of the conference attendees.

“Yeah, Newsom was there. Other people whose names have been mentioned were there. But I think in our system, it’s not a parliamentary system, so we really don’t have a leader of the opposition party who would become prime minister or chancellor,” Clinton said. “We have a kind of big messy contest. And so people are going to run. There’s probably going to be 10 to 15 people running. But we have a good bench, we have good candidates.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris led in 2028 Democratic primary polling, with Newsom second and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg third, according to the RealClearPolling average as of Wednesday afternoon. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who had a disastrous appearance at the conference, ranked fourth.

“And I really believe that what we’ve seen over this past year is the Republicans losing contests — governor, congressional contests, other contests — and we’ve also seen [President Donald] Trump’s favorability rating plummet,” the former secretary of state added. “He’s in the 30s. He is no longer popular, except his hardcore base will stay with him. So I’m optimistic. I’m optimistic about the midterm elections and then about the upcoming presidential.”

Some polls had Trump’s approval rating in the 30s, while others had his approval in the 40s and one had it at 50, according to RealClearPolling, which had his average approval at 42.1.

Longtime Democratic megadonor John Morgan warned that Newsom’s far-left record could hinder his chances of winning the presidency during Monday’s edition of NewsNation’s “CUOMO.”

“He’s going to have to run from his woke …  How’s he going to deal with his transgender swimming positions and everything that brought him there? Usually when you’re a governor, that’s an asset,” Morgan told host Chris Cuomo. “His problem is his record is far far left and far far woke. And can he do the [former Republican Utah Sen.] Mitt Romney etch-a-sketch? I don’t know.”

Trump said that Vice President JD Vance was “probably favored” to carry the Make America Great Again (MAGA) mantle in 2028 during an August White House ceremony. He asserted Secretary of State Marco Rubio was “also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form.”
