A self-described Antifa supporter who called for armed resistance and other violence against immigration agents in Minnesota was arrested Thursday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced.
Kyle Wagner of Minneapolis now faces federal cyberstalking and threat charges and is expected to make his first court appearance today, according to a DOJ statement. The charges stem from social media videos and posts in which Wagner said rioters should “put our hands on” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, punish them “at the barrel of a gun,” and other incendiary suggestions, the DOJ alleged.
“We want to know who they are,” Wagner said of ICE agents, according to the DOJ. “We will identify every single one of them and we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. If it has to be done at the barrel of a gun, then let us have a little fucking fun.”
Wagner posted a GoFundMe page on Jan. 13 asking for money to “escape” from “political persecution simply for standing up for what I believe in.” Critics have “targeted me, doxxed my personal information, and made threats against my life,” he claimed. The GoFundMe raised $1,211 leading up to his arrest.
It was not immediately clear if Wagner had an attorney.
“Wagner also urged others to ‘hunt’ ICE, including those who are ‘armed’ to ‘fight [ICE]. This is kill or be killed,’” the DOJ alleged. Wagner went on the run after posting the threats, the DOJ said. Wagner’s posts rejected “peaceful protests” and encouraged people to “Get your fucking guns and stop these fucking people,” according to prosecutors.
“It’s no surprise that an Antifa terrorist is allegedly threatening to kill and assault federal law enforcement officers as they dutifully remove criminal threats from neighborhoods,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said. “After all, this is what Antifa is about, lawlessness and violence. But under the leadership of President [Donald] Trump and Attorney General [Pam] Bondi, there is no safe haven for terrorists and no protection from the full weight of justice.”
