Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is calling for a “new generation” of leaders.
However, Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of ABC’s “The View,” argued on Monday she cannot be considered part of the new generation because of her age.
“You’re not a new generation. You’re 51!” Goldberg said. “What are you talking about?”
Conservative co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in to point out, “Compared to D.C., that’s a new generation. Congress is old.”
“She may be younger than most of those people, but her rhetoric is the same,” Goldberg countered. “She’s saying the same B.S.”

Her comments come days after CNN’s Don Lemon came under fire for criticizing Haley’s language about politicians who are not in their prime.
Lemon suggested on “CNN This Morning” Thursday about politicians being out of their prime is “the wrong road to go down.”
“She says people, you know, politicians are suddenly not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is considered to be in her prime [is] in her 20s and 30s and maybe 40s,” he continued.
Co-host Poppy Harlow interjected, “What are you talking about?”
“It depends. It’s just like prime. If you look it up. If you Google when is a woman in her prime, it’ll say 20s, 30s, and 40s,” Lemon said.
Harlow joked, “Forties! Oh my god, I have another decade.”

Poppy Harlow: "Are you talking about prime for like child bearing?"
"Don’t shoot the messenger! I’m just saying what the facts are! Google it!" pic.twitter.com/n1HmtkWTpl
She asked her co-host if he was talking about childbearing or “prime for being president.”
“Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just saying what the facts are. Google it. Everybody at home, when is a woman in her prime? It says 20s, 30s, and 40s,” he said. “I’m just saying Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime, and they need to be in their prime when they serve. Because she wouldn’t be in her prime according to Google or whatever it is.”
Lemon later apologized for his “inartful and irrelevant” comment.
