Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) may be on the verge of losing a committee assignment after her behavior during a hearing.
CNN reports House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) was displeased with Greene’s behavior during a hearing on Wednesday.
“A source close to Green said the chairman was furious with the congresswoman’s behavior and planned to privately reprimand her, and also said he would encourage Speaker Kevin McCarthy to remove her from the committee if she ever had an outburst like that again,” according to the network.
She was prohibited from speaking during the hearing after her outbursts.
At one point in the hearing, the Georgia congresswoman took aim at Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.).
“That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy, and everyone knows it,” she claimed.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) tried and failed to have Greene’s comments removed from the record.
But when Greene was asked if she wanted to retract her comments, she said, “No, I will not.”
During a separate point in the hearing, she lashed out at Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and accused him of being a liar, as IJR reported.
“China is poisoning America’s children, poisoning our teenagers, poisoning our young people. How long are you going to let this go on?” she asked.
Mayorkas responded, “Congresswoman, let me assure you that we’re not letting it go on. We are fighting this scourge…”
The congresswoman interrupted, “No, I reclaim my time. You’re a liar! You are letting this go on and the numbers prove it.”
“You can’t lie about the facts, Secretary Mayorkas. While you live in denial and sit over there with this attitude that you’re doing every right, you are killing Americans with your policies. And that is a fact. Your policies are killing over 300 Americans a day, over 300, and it’s outrageous,” she added.

Other Republicans voiced disagreements with Greene’s behavior.
Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) told CNN the incident was “unfortunate” and that he supported the decision to prevent her from speaking.
Meanwhile, Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) said, “The rules about parliamentary conduct are such so that we can maintain this body and continue to have a dialogue that is difficult to have, but you do it without hurling insults.”
“But the issue that drove it is real,” he added.
