A 2024 Republican presidential hopeful is pushing other candidates to sign a pledge involving former President Donald Trump.

In a letter on Tuesday, entrepreneur and 2024 Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy sent a letter to all of the other Republican candidates running, as well as two Democratic candidates: Marianne Williamson and Robert Kennedy Jr.

“I am writing to you not just as a fellow candidate in the 2024 race for U.S. President, but as a fellow American,” Ramaswamy wrote.

He continued:

“The U.S. Department of Justice unsealed its 37-count indictment against the 45th U.S. President, who is also our fellow competitor in this race. Each of our paths to electoral success would be easier if President Trump were eliminated from competition, but that is the wrong result for our country.”

“The fact that we are running against Trump gives us credibility to denounce his politicized prosecution,” the letter insisted.

Ramaswamy argued if the former president is “prosecuted in a manner that effectively prevents him from running” it will “permanently damage public trust in our electoral process and justice system.”

Finally, Ramaswamy wrote, “I condemn these charges by the U.S. Justice Department. Below, I have signed a commitment to pardon President Trump promptly on January 20, 2025.”

He also challenged the recipients of his letter to sign the commitment, or “publicly explain why you will not.”

Last week, Trump was indicted by Special Counsel Jack Smith for his handling of classified documents.

Smith hit Trump with 37 charges in the case, including 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information, one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, one count of corruptly concealing a document or record, one count of concealing a document in a federal investigation, and one count related to making false statements.

The former president is scheduled to be arraigned in a Miami courthouse on Tuesday.

Ramaswamy joined Trump supporters in traveling to Miami in support of the former president and mentioned his pardon pledge.

Vivek Ramaswamy: "This is my commitment, on January 20th, 2025, if I'm elected the next U.S. president, to pardon Donald J. Trump…I have demanded that every other candidate in this race either sign this commitment to pardon…or else to explain why they are not!" pic.twitter.com/7rRCIkzyl1

“I have challenged, I have demanded that every other candidate in this race either sign this commitment to pardon on Jan. 20, 2025, or else to explain why they are not,” he told reporters.
