Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett could be formally reprimanded by Congress following her comments mocking Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for having a disability while speaking at an LGBTQ advocacy group event on Saturday.
Republican Rep. Randy Weber, a fellow Texan, announced Tuesday he plans to introduce a censure resolution against Crockett, Fox News Digital first reported. It is unclear whether the resolution will be considered privileged, which could force House GOP leadership to hold a vote on the censure resolution.
“I plan to introduce a bill to censure Jasmine Crockett for her disgraceful and vile attacks against our Governor of Texas,” Weber wrote on X Tuesday. “This kind of rhetoric has no place in Congress.”
“Y’all know we got Governor ‘Hot Wheels’ down there — come on now,” Crockett said at a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles on Saturday. “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey.”

Abbott is notably paralyzed from the waist down and has used a wheelchair for most of his life.
Crockett’s remarks follows a spate of inflammatory comments she has made recently toward elected Republicans. Crockett said on Sunday she thinks Democrats should metaphorically “punch” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
“I think that you punch. I think you punch. I think you’re ok with … you’re okay with punching … but like, it’s Ted Cruz! I mean like, this dude has to be knocked over the head, like hard, right? Like, there is no niceties with him. Like, at all. Like, you go clean off on him, right?” Crockett said.
Crockett admitted in the same interview that her priority is resisting Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress rather than passing legislation.
The House of Representatives formally censured Democratic Texas Rep. Al Green on March 6 for heckling President Donald Trump during his joint address to Congress.
