A Republican U.S. Representative from Tennessee has filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris for breaching “public trust.”
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) filed the articles Tuesday in an effort to increase attacks on the vice president at a time when she is launching her bid for the presidency, The Hill reported.
Articles of impeachment against Harris previously filed regarded her immigration record.
This second filing Claims Harris hid Biden’s mental acuity in what resulted in a “breach of public trust.”
He added a second article in the new filing, which claims Harris covered up President Biden’s mental well-being and physical health, constituting a “breach of public trust.”
“Kamala Devi Harris has knowingly misled the people of the United States and the Congress of the United States, principally to obfuscate the physical and cognitive well-being of the President of the United States, Joe Biden,” according to the filing.
Articles were first filed against Harris on June 12, 2023, and allege she has “demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States.”
The filing included naming crimes allegedly committed by immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally
“In all of this, Kamala Devi Harris willfully and systematically refused to uphold the immigration laws, failed to control the border to the detriment of national security, compromised public safety, and violated the rule of law, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States,” per the articles.
However, this first filing has not gone any further than its introduction.
Also on Tuesday, Ogles said Harris should invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden and become the acting president.
On Sunday, Biden dropped out of the race for the White House and backed Harris to be the Democratic nominee.
Biden has been steadfast in his resolve to serve out his term as president.
In February, the House impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding immigration.
Those articles were eventually dismissed by the Senate.
