WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 13: U.S. President Joe Biden speaks on the Senate's recent passage of the National Security Supplemental Bill, which provides military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, in the State Dining Room of the White House on February 13, 2024 in Washington, DC. A Republican senator insists President Joe Biden is seeking another four years in office just to avoid jail time.

During an interview with Newsmax, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) was asked, “Do you believe that Biden is the Democratic nominee come November?”

“You know, I thought about three months ago, four months ago, I thought he probably would make it,” Tuberville responded.

He went on:

“But to see it decline over the last few months, I don’t think he’ll make it. I just watched him yesterday walking on a tarmac in L.A. with Nancy Pelosi, shuffling his feet, looking at the ground. I mean, he, you know, we got to have some leadership in this country. I don’t know what they’re going to do, but President Trump’s going to win anyway.”

Tuberville suggested Democrats will replace Biden “probably around convention time” to “give President Trump a run for his money. But Joe Biden, he can’t win.”

He added, “He’s trying to stay in their just so he’ll stay out of jail to be honest with you.”

It was unclear what criminal charges Biden is allegedly seeking to avoid.

Earlier this month, Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report about his investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents.

While he concluded Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen,” Hur said he was not recommending charges.

Still, the report included several damaging sections. One portion labeled Biden a “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Investigators also believed, “Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt.

“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” the report added.

Hur’s report also claimed Biden “did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died,” or when he was vice president.
