Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott appeared on “Hannity” Tuesday evening to shrug off Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett calling him “Governor Hot Wheels.”
Abbott said that, come election time, the Democratic Party will be left “in the dust.”
During a Human Rights Campaign speech Monday evening, Crockett took to the stage to criticize her state’s Republican leadership, calling Abbott, who is confined to a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels” and also called him a “hot ass mess.” Fox host Sean Hannity asked the governor for his response, saying there was “no way in hell” Crockett wasn’t referring to Abbott’s paraplegic state after she denied the accusation on X.
“Well, Sean, this is another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy,” Abbott said. “They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country.”
Shortly after graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1984 for his law degree, Abbott was paralyzed by a falling tree while jogging, according to the governor’s official website.

Abbott went on to tell Hannity about what he said were his state’s accomplishments.
“The fact, Sean, is that Texas is actually in direct contrast to what she was talking about,” Abbott said. “Texas has ranked number one for the most new jobs in America over the past month, number one for the most new jobs over the past year, and for several years. Texas ranks number one for the most new economic development projects for 13 years in a row.”
“The bottom line is that Republican states like Texas are leading the way, and with comments like this by Democrats, we will just leave them in the dust in future elections,” Abbott added.
Crockett’s jab at the Republican governor is one of a handful of comments the Democrat lawmaker has made against Republicans and allies of President Donald Trump. During an interview with NBC DFW on Sunday, Crockett said she believes her party should metaphorically “punch” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz while discussing the future of Democrats.
Since the comments towards Abbott were made, Crockett took to X, saying that her joke wasn’t about the “governor’s condition.”
“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” Crockett wrote.
“At no point did I mention or allude to his condition. So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump—a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities—are now outraged,” Crockett added.
Crockett could face formal reprimanding. Republican Texas Rep. Randy Weber said Tuesday he plans to introduce a censure resolution against the Democrat.
