British journalist Piers Morgan and liberal streamer and YouTuber Destiny argued Wednesday over President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter, with Destiny questioning what taking the “high moral ground” has gained Democrats.
Since Biden announced Sunday that he had pardoned Hunter, Democrats have had mixed reactions, with some opposing the decision and others supporting it. On “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Destiny argued that Biden’s decision was made in “good prudence” after President-elect Donald Trump tapped Kash Patel as his FBI director, prompting Morgan to call out Destiny’s attitude.
“You seem very phlegmatic about all this, Destiny, but inside you must be hurting. Because what Joe Biden has done with one flick of his pen, he has taken away all the high moral ground that the Democrats could have had against Trump for the next four years,” Morgan said. “Because Trump can now pardon who the hell he likes. He can pardon every January 6 protester, and he can do it in the sure knowledge that the moment people like you go, ‘This is an outrage. How can you do this?’ He goes, ‘You know what? At least they went to prison.’ Hunter Biden didn’t do a day.”
Destiny responded.
“Two of the easiest questions in the world. Piers, one – if he doesn’t pardon Hunter, do you think that influences Trump’s decision at all and who he pardons next?” Destiny asked.
Morgan attempted to answer Destiny’s first question; however, the liberal streamer immediately pushed back, leading to the two talking over each other as Morgan regained control of the conversation.

“Hang on, hang on – let me answer number one first. I’ll answer number one. Come to number two second,” Morgan said. “My point to you was – if he does, and I’m sure he will, you on the left have absolutely no way to now play the high moral ground. Because your guy, the president, did it even worse.
“What is the high moral ground?” Destiny asked. “We’re down a Supreme Court pick. We lost the 2000 presidency to another Supreme Court. The president now has infinite criminal immunity. Like what has the moral high ground gotten the Democrats up to this point? There’s no point in engaging in norms when only one side upholds the norms.”
The two continued to argue over Trump’s pardons of his former aides Steven Bannon and Roger Stone, with Destiny suggesting that Hunter Biden’s crimes weren’t comparable.
In defense of his decision, Biden said in a statement that he believed any “reasonable” person would conclude Hunter was “singled out” because of his relationship to the president. However, Democrats and others have criticized Biden and his staff for previously insisting that he wouldn’t pardon Hunter before leaving office.
