Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign did not waste any time in pouncing on the technical difficulties that plagued the interview between X owner Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump.
Harris’ campaign referred to the pair as “self-obsessed rich guys” and belittled them for the difficulties that led to the interview starting about 45 minutes late on X’s Spaces.
“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” the campaign wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday night.
The campaign also offered counterpoints on the rapid response page along with soundbites from the interview.
One issue up for discussion was global warming. Trump said an increase in sea levels would afford people “more oceanfront property.”
He also said it was not as big of a problem as “nuclear warming.”
The topic of education was also a sticking point for the Harris campaign when the Republican nominee for president said he would abolish Department of Education if he wins the election.
This is a policy part of the the Project 2025 agenda.
“Donald Trump extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com,” Harris’ campaign wrote.
Trump, who is endorsed by Musk, was allowed to return to X last year after being banned from the social media platform.
The two-hour interview included barbs at Harris and President Joe Biden, who Trump referred to as “incompetent.”
He also talked about immigration, the economy, the recent assassination attempt and the future of energy production.
The Hill reported Trump did not make inflammatory or controversial comments he is known to say.
