Vice President Kamala Harris’ comments on the situation in Gaza were temporarily interrupted by a pro-Palestinian protester.
“President Biden and I have been working every day… to bring,” Harris began during remarks on Saturday
As the protester shouted from the back of the room, she said, “I’m speaking right now. And I value and respect your voice, but I’m speaking right now.”
Harris added as the protester was removed, “We have been working every day to bring this conflict to an end.”

The moment came after Israel carried out a dramatic daytime raid on the Nuseirat camp in Gaza and rescued four hostages.
The operation has sparked criticism of Israel as Palestinian officials have claimed the raid led to the deaths of 247 people, without distinguishing between military or civilian casualties. Israeli officials have blamed Hamas for holding hostages in an area with a civilian population.
In March, Harris made headlines after she called for an immediate ceasefire in the war.
“What we are seeing every day in Gaza is devastating. We have seen reports of families eating leaves or animal feed. Women giving birth to malnourished babies with little or no medical care, and children dying from malnutrition and dehydration,” she said during a speech. “Our hearts break for the victims of that horrific tragedy and for all the innocent people in Gaza who are suffering from what is clearly a humanitarian catastrophe. People in Gaza are starving. The conditions are inhumane.”
She added, “Given the immense scale of suffering in Gaza, there must be an immediate ceasefire, for at least the next six weeks, which is what is currently on the table.”
Harris also put pressure on Hamas to agree to a ceasefire that would lead to the release of hostages and “provide immediate relief to the people of Gaza.”
After news of the hostage rescue over the weekend, President Joe Biden also put pressure on Israel and Hamas to agree to a ceasefire.
