Vice President Kamala Harris is switching her position yet again.
This time, the switch involves beverage delivery vessels.
In a 2019 CNN town hall, Harris was asked about the idea of banning plastic straws.
“I think we should,” the vice president responded then.
She added, “We do need to ban plastic straws.” However, she believed paper straws should be improved.
Axios reached out to the Harris campaign roughly five years later to ask if she still holds that view.
“She doesn’t support banning plastic straws,” a Harris campaign spokesperson told the outlet.
They continued, “She cast the tie-breaking vote on the most consequential legislation to combat climate change and create clean energy jobs in history, and as President, she is going to be focused on expanding on that progress.”
Finally, the campaign added, “She joked even then about how crappy paper straws are and the need to come up with better eco-friendly alternatives.”
