Well, it turns out your kid’s assistant principal may have been moonlighting as something a lot more sinister than a hall monitor with a walkie-talkie and a clipboard. Authorities in Virginia just arrested John W. Bennett, 54, assistant principal of Kempsville High School, after he and his brother allegedly cooked up plans to attack ICE agents and law enforcement officers. Yes, you read that right—while parents were worried about report cards and PTA meetings, this guy was allegedly plotting violent assaults on federal agents… over pho.

According to court documents, it all unraveled in a local Vietnamese restaurant, where an off-duty Norfolk police officer just happened to overhear the Bennett brothers having what can only be described as the world’s worst dinner conversation. They were allegedly ranting about ICE agents “kidnapping” people—because enforcing immigration law is now apparently a human rights violation in some circles—and dreaming up plans to “go hunting.” And no, not for deer.

Mark Bennett, the older brother in this charming family duo, had allegedly just bought an assault rifle—because of course he did—and booked a flight to Las Vegas, where he claimed he’d meet with “like-minded individuals” to brainstorm violent “enforcement ideas.” That’s one way to spend your frequent flyer miles. John, our friendly neighborhood assistant principal, allegedly nodded along and even floated the idea of tagging along. Apparently, school breaks are getting a lot more intense these days.

A Kempsville High School assistant principal and his brother are facing charges after police received information about the pair allegedly threatening to commit violence against local police and ICE agents, according to VBPD.

Authorities didn’t wait around to see what kind of “field trip” these two had in mind. They were arrested at Norfolk International Airport, probably on their way to that Vegas meetup. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit malicious wounding—basically legalese for “you were planning to hurt people”—and they were granted bond, which means they’re out roaming free with shiny new GPS ankle bracelets and court orders to avoid each other. What could go wrong?

Let’s pause and reflect for a second: a man who’s been in your local school system since 2009, possibly shaping young minds, was allegedly planning to wage war on federal officers. And this is happening in 2025, under President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, during one of the most aggressive border security crackdowns in modern history. ICE agents have been under siege, not just metaphorically, but literally—assaults are up 1,000% since Trump resumed his deportation initiatives. That’s not hyperbole, that’s the actual figure.

This isn’t an isolated incident either. Just a few months ago, an anti-ICE gunman opened fire on a Dallas facility, killing two detainees before turning the gun on himself. On the Fourth of July—yes, Independence Day—a group of alleged Antifa agitators set off fireworks at another ICE facility in North Texas, drawing agents out before opening fire. One officer took a bullet to the neck.

But tell me again how it’s the right that’s violent and dangerous.

Should the assistant principal be removed from his position following the arrest for planning violence against ICE agents?

Meanwhile, the left continues to pretend this sort of anti-law enforcement extremism is just some fringe myth, not something festering right in the heart of public institutions like our school systems. This isn’t just about ideology anymore—it’s about whether or not the people teaching your kids believe federal law enforcement is the enemy. It’s about whether they think violence is a legitimate form of protest when they don’t like who’s sitting in the Oval Office.

So, what happens next? Will the media bury the story because it doesn’t fit their preferred narrative? Will the school quietly part ways with Bennett without admitting how someone like this held a leadership role for over a decade? Or will we all just move on and pretend this never happened until the next “activist” decides to go full vigilante?

There’s a real conversation to be had here, not just about vetting in schools, but about how deeply this anti-law enforcement rhetoric has taken root—and what happens when it goes unchecked. Because if your kids’ assistant principal can allegedly fantasize about attacking ICE, what else is hiding in plain sight?

Stay alert. It’s not just happening in the headlines. It’s happening in the cafeteria line.
