Project 2021’s Horace Cooper warned Democrats Friday on Fox News’ “Hannity” that the “cancer” taking over the party could eventually put New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in charge.

Early reports suggest Ocasio-Cortez may be gearing up for a 2028 presidential run or a Senate bid, as she has campaigned across the country this year. Fox guest host Charles Hurt said it appears she is “in charge” of the party and asked Cooper to respond.

“Well, the real observation that I would have is that there is no leadership in this party, and they need to call a political oncologist very, very quickly because the radical metastasis has set in, and it’s rapidly spreading,” Cooper said. “Even after beclowning herself with her comments about Charlie Kirk, her fellow members, many of them sided with her rather than logic, reason, and just basic good form.”

“The cancer that is taking over the world’s oldest political party is very, very likely going to lead not to Gavin Newsom, but to AOC and her radical fringe ideas taking over the party and getting the nomination,” Cooper added.

On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez faced backlash from Republicans after speaking on the House floor repeatedly quoting Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in order to portray him as “uneducated” and “ignorant.” The Democrat lawmaker had been one of the 58 Democrats voting against a resolution honoring Kirk’s life and praising him as a “courageous American patriot” who “lived out his faith with conviction, courage, and compassion.”

Since Trump’s second term in office, Ocasio-Cortez has repeatedly pushed backed against the administration and its efforts to crack down on issues that concern a majority of voters, including illegal immigration.

In May, Ocasio Cortez posted a video to her social media platform advocating for the Democratic representatives involved in a scene at a New Jersey ICE facility. In the video, Ocasio-Cortez warned there would be a “problem” for the department if they “lay a finger” on “[New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson] Coleman or any of the representatives.”

In January, the Democrat lawmaker had also advised illegal migrants on how to handle situations with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, either at their home or workplace during a virtual event.

Border czar Tom Homan and Department of Homeland Security official Tricia McLaughlin have both warned Ocasio-Cortez about the potential consequences of her actions. McLaughlin said in May that arrest was “on the table” if the lawmaker trespassed or assaulted ICE agents.

According to the betting site Polymarket, Ocasio-Cortez has an 11% chance of securing the Democratic nomination, trailing Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who holds a 36% chance.
