A House Oversight Committee hearing on whether to hold the attorney general in contempt got derailed by personal insults.

During the hearing on Thursday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) asked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) if she knew what the hearing was about.

“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” the Georgia congresswoman responded. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up…”

The hearing then exploded with members talking over each other as ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) chimed in, “That’s beneath either of you.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said, “I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable! How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person! Move her words down!”

When Greene asked if her feelings were hurt, Ocasio-Cortez said, “Oh, girl! Baby girl! Don’t even play!”

“Baby girl? I don’t think so,” Greene said.

House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-Ky.) said the Georgia congresswoman agreed to strike her words from the record, however, Ocasio-Cortez said, “She should apologize.”

“I’m not apologizing,” Greene shot back, before asking the Ocasio-Cortez, “Why don’t you debate me?”

The New York congresswoman shot back, “I think it’s pretty self-evident.”

“Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence!” Greene said.

Finally, Greene agreed to strike her words, but declined to apologize.

Later, Crockett addressed Comer and asked, “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

Comer asked, “A what now?… I have no idea what you just said.”

Later in the hearing, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) criticized the outbursts saying, “I just want to apologize to the American people, I don’t think that this is the best use of our time when we are squabbling. It’s one to have fun and laugh as members of Congress and try to find humor or some sort of light heartedness in what we are doing.”

“But, when things get as heated as they have, it’s unfortunately an embarrassment on our body as a whole, so I just want to personally apologize to the American people for that,” she added.
