House Republicans have reportedly scheduled their first hearing in the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Fox News reported Tuesday morning Republicans will hold their first hearing on Sept. 28.

While it will be the first proceeding since House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) directed the launch of an impeachment inquiry, Fox added, “That hearing won’t necessarily tread any new ground. It will simply be a review of the existing evidence and explain the status of the inquiry.”

The outlet also noted Republicans are expected to subpoena bank records of the president’s son, Hunter Biden, and his brother, James Biden.

Republican leaders reportedly want to have the impeachment inquiry finished before the presidential primary season.

McCarthy announced last week he was directing House committees to launch an impeachment inquiry into the president.

In a brief statement, he said, “Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings.”

McCarthy proceeded to list a series of allegations against Biden and what he said was evidence to support them, then added, “These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption. And they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”

I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Over the past several months, House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct—a culture of corruption. https://t.co/3uoDlUB3Sy

The president brushed off the impeachment inquiry during a fundraiser as he said, “The best I can tell is they want to impeach me because they want to shut down the government.”

“Look, I’ve got a job. I’ve got to deal with the issues that affect the American people every single, solitary day,” he added.

On Sunday, Biden was asked, “What is your response to Republicans opening an impeachment inquiry into you?”

He responded with a smile and offered just three words, saying, “Lots of luck.”
