Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is firing back at Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) after she told a story of an alleged encounter between the two Congresswomen in the U.S. Capitol.
A video surfaced of Boebert sharing an allegedly made up story about an elevator ride she had in the Capitol with Omar.
“I was getting into an elevator with one of my staffers,” Boebert began as she claimed she saw a Capitol police officer “running hurriedly to the elevator” with “fret all over his face.”
She continued, “I look to my left, and there she is — Ilhan Omar. And I said, ‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.’ So we only had one floor to go… I looked over and I said, ‘Oh look, the jihad squad decided to show up for work today.'”
Laughter could be heard in the background as Colorado Congresswoman spoke.
Over the Thanksgiving break, Lauren Boebert said she was recently in a Capitol elevator with Ilhan Omar when a fretful Capitol police officer ran up.

Omar reacted to the story about the alleged encounter, tweeting, “Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up. Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.”
“Anti-Muslim bigotry isn’t funny [and] shouldn’t be normalized. Congress can’t be a place where hateful and dangerous Muslims tropes get no condemnation,” she added.

During a speech on the House floor on Nov. 17, Boebert labeled Omar a member of the “jihad squad.”
“The jihad-squad member from Minnesota has paid her husband, and not her brother husband, the other one, over a million dollars in campaign funds,” she said, adding, “This member is allowed on the Foreign Affairs Committee while praising terrorists.”
As the Washington Examiner notes, “Boebert referenced a report that Omar paid her husband’s political consultancy firm over $2.8 million during the 2019-2020 election cycle.
Omar responded at the time in a tweet, “Luckily my dad raised me right, otherwise I might have gone to the floor to talk about this insurrectionist who sleeps with a pervert. I am grateful I was raised to be a decent human and not a deprived person who shamefully defecated [and] defiles the House of Representative.”
