Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin celebrated Saturday’s “No Kings” protests during a Monday MSNBC appearance, claiming they were “positive” and patriotic” despite death threats to prominent conservatives made by protesters.

Dozens of protests against President Donald Trump took place Saturday nationwide, with prominent Trump critic George Conway being observed wearing a T-shirt proclaiming himself as a member of Antifa during one event. Other protesters interviewed during the events expressed hopes that Trump and White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller would die, which Raskin and MSNBC host Chris Jansing ignored despite the videos being posted to social media Saturday.

“It was, of course, totally positive, totally patriotic, and totally supportive of us getting the American government back in business again, reopening and supporting the health care of the American people and supporting the federal workforce,” Raskin claimed. “And you know, I kicked off by saying that Speaker Johnson was talking about a ‘Hate America’ rally, but that one had already taken place on January 6th, 2021, when Trump incited a mob of insurrectionists who violently assaulted our police officers, wounding and injuring more than 140 of them in order to overturn a presidential election he lost by more than 7 million votes. That’s what a ‘Hate America’ rally looks like.”

“This is what a ‘Love America’ movement looks like. And that’s why they’ve been trashing it for weeks now, because they know that millions of Americans are standing up against their authoritarianism,” Raskin continued.

Journalist Brandi Kruse posted video of a protester at the Seattle “No Kings” rally being interviewed while holding a sign that said, “Would You Like To Kill Nazis [With] Me?” During the exchange, the man said he would kill Miller, who he called a “Nazi,” if he got the chance.

Should protests that include violent threats be regarded as patriotic and positive?

Kruse later reported that the FBI was investigating the man’s threats. Kruse also posted a video showing another protester who said that killing Miler would be “justifiable.”

Miller and his family were forced to move from their home in Arlington, Virginia, after a campaign of harassment that included writing messages like “Stephen Miller is destroying democracy,” “no white nationalism” and “trans rights are human rights” on public sidewalks near his residence, along with posting flyers that listed his home address.

In a video posted Saturday by The Maine Wire, a “No Kings” protester said that for her birthday, she wanted to wake up the next morning to read Trump’s obituary.

“You’re wishing that President Trump is dead?” the reporter asked her, and she replied, “Yes. Absolutely.”

At another “No Kings” event, this one in Chicago, a man urged attendees to shoot United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“You gotta grab a gun, we gotta turn around the guns on this fascist system. These ICE agents gotta get shot and wiped out,” the man, who stood in front of a banner for the Progressive Labor Party, said. “The same machinery that’s on full display right there has to get wiped out.”

Also in Chicago, a “No Kings” protester made a “neck shot” gesture at counter-protesters who unveiled a flag honoring Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Sept. 10, according to a video originally posted to Instagram before it was reposted on X by Colin Rugg. Posts on social media later identified that protester as a public school teacher in the Chicago area.
