The Biden campaign’s press conference outside the Manhattan courthouse where former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial is wrapping up was briefly derailed by hecklers.

On Tuesday, actor Robert De Niro was speaking as part of the event about the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and was accompanied by officers who were involved in the defending the building that day.

“On January 6th, while Republican lawmakers despicably tried to keep the loser Trump — the loser Trump — in the White House, and Trump inspired insurrectionists to storm the Capitol, brave men and women from law enforcement put their lives on the line to defend this country, our democracy,”De Niro said.

He added, “They are the true heroes. These guys are the true heroes. They stood and put their lives on the line for these low lives, for Trump.”

One heckler interjected, “They lied under oath.”

“They lied under oath?” De Niro asked.

The man responded, “That’s right.”

“Who lied under oath? What are you telling me?” De Niro asked.

Robert De Niro fires back at a protester who calls Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone, who protected the Capitol on January 6th, “traitors”:

The heckler asserted, “Those two traitors behind you.”

Still, De Niro asked, “They lied under oath? What are you saying?”

“They’re traitors,” the heckler responded.

However, the Hollywood star shot back, “They’re traitors? I don’t even know how to deal with you, my friend. I don’t even know how to deal with you. They stood there. They didn’t have to.”

“And there were other ones in there who probably were in with them a little bit, too. And they found a way to get around. Not these guys. They stood there and fought for us. For you. For you,” he added.

The heckler retorted, “They weren’t fighting for me.”

“No? Yeah, no, they fought for you, buddy. You’re able to stand right here now,” De Niro shot back.

At a separate point, De Niro asserted that the only way to “preserve our freedoms and hold onto our humanity is to vote for Joe Biden for president.”
