Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki shamed Christians on Wednesday who were praying for those afflicted in the Annunciation Catholic School shooting.

A now-deceased gunman fatally shot two children ages eight and ten and injured 17 others by opening fire through the window of the Catholic Church during a Mass service. Following the tragedy, Psaki wrote on X that “prayers” are “not freaking enough” to stop school shootings.

“Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. [P]rayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers,” Psaki wrote on X.

In the midst of the tragedy, many Democrats claimed that “thoughts and prayers” were not enough to stop the horrific incident from happening. Despite those children and their families being Christian, Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey told people not to offer their prayers to the victims and their families because the children were already praying at the time of the tragedy.

“Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now. These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school, they were in a church,” Frey said during a press conference.

Democrat Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar agreed with Frey’s words, stating that “thoughts and prayers just aren’t enough.”

The suspect, who was later identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the back of the church following the shooting, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed during the press conference. He carried a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol and is believed to have used all three weapons. Authorities have not currently identified a motive.

At least seven victims arrived at the hospital in critical condition, including two children, O’Hara said. Fourteen of those injured were children.
