Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, revealed Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was her preferred vice-presidential choice.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Wednesday, host Willie Geist noted that Harris is scheduled to accept the vice-presidential nomination and give her speech on Wednesday evening. Geist asked if Harris was the candidate she preferred.
“Most of the reporting from people who talked to members of the campaign say that you had a good hand in helping the vice president arrive at his decision,” Geist said.
Then, he asked, “Was Kamala Harris your choice to be the vice president’s running mate, and if so, why?”
Jill Biden chimed in and praised Harris as she explained why she believes the Democratic senator is the best candidate for Vice President of the United States.
“You know what? Kamala was both of our choices because I admire strong women, and Kamala’s fierce and she’s strong and she’s tough,” Jill Biden said. “She’ll be a good debater and more than that she’ll be a good partner for Joe.”

She also expressed confidence in Harris being the type of partner her husband needs to assist him in governing the country as she reflected on Joe Biden’s relationship with former President Barack Obama.
She added, “And that’s what he needs, a partner to help him govern. And he always said that he and Barack had a really tight relationship and that they … shared the same values, and that is what he has with Kamala.”
Jill Biden’s remarks come just one week after her husband announced his selection, as previously reported on IJR. Shortly after, Democratic leaders rallied behind Joe Biden and Harris in preparation for the Democratic National Convention.
Day three of the Democratic Convention will air from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET. The virtual event will feature speeches from Harris, Obama, and more.
