With less than two weeks until the Democratic National Convention, Dr. Jill Biden is shedding light on the vice-presidential attributes she believes will complement her husband and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s leadership.
Appeared on “PBS News Hour” on Tuesday, Jill Biden discussed her husband’s relationship with former President Barack Obama and how it has laid the foundation for Joe Biden’s impending selection of a vice president.
Jill Biden confirmed that Joe Biden will be selecting a woman who “shares the same values he shares.”
“I think Joe is going to be looking for a woman who shares the same values he shares, and I think that’s what he had with Barack Obama and that’s what he’s looking for,” Jill Biden said.
When asked about the “special qualities” she and Joe Biden are looking for in a potential vice president, she outlined “trust,” “experience,” “wisdom,” and a partnership in “governing” as the top attributes they believe are needed to bring something “special and unique” to the ticket.
“He needs a partner in governing and someone who knows how to govern and has the experience,” she said.

Jill Biden’s latest remarks come amid heightened speculation and rumors about the potential Democratic women being vetted to become the potential vice presidential nominee.
Joe Biden is holding the final round of candidate interviews as he prepares to announce his decision ahead of the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
According to USA Today, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), and Susan Rice, the former National Security Advisor under the Obama administration, are reportedly among the top candidates.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D), who serves as co-chair of Joe Biden’s Vice President Selection Committee, also weighed in with details about the women who have been part of the vetting process.
“We have amazing women that have been a part of this process,” Garcetti said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday. “We’re keeping them all, we vetted them heavily. All of them have passed a vet, and now in this next week, week and a half, Mr. Biden can spend some time with them.”
