President Joe Biden received criticism after allegedly refusing to comment on the rising death toll from the Hawaii fires.

After spending the afternoon at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware on Sunday, a reporter asked Biden about the rising death toll which had climbed to 96, Justin Sink, a reporter with Bloomberg News wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Hawaii’s Big Island and Maui were left devastated by the destruction of fires.

“After a couple hours on the Rehoboth beach,” Biden “was asked about the rising death toll in Hawaii,” Sink wrote in his post with a photo of Biden lounging on a beach chair with a group of people.

Biden reportedly said, “No comment” to the reporter’s question.

The president’s comment was reportedly seen from lip readers, though he was not heard, according to the White House press pool report.

“Wow. What a scumbag,” conservative political commentator Matt Walsh wrote in a post.

“In Maui: 93 (& counting) Americans are dead,” former candidate for Arizona governor in 2022, Kari Lake wrote. “1,000 are missing. One of the most beautiful places on earth has been reduced to cinders.”

Lake pointed out how in Delaware, Biden couldn’t “be bothered to care.”

“Putting America First means getting this joker out of the White House,” Lake said.
