‘Appalling’: Biden Slammed For Leaving Medal Of Honor Ceremony

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 05: A tear rolls down retired U.S. Army Captain Larry Taylor's cheek as he is awarded the Medal of Honor by President Joe Biden in a ceremony in the East Room of the White House on September 05, 2023 in Washington, DC. In June of 1968, Taylor landed his Cobra attack helicopter under intense enemy fire to rescue a four-man long-range reconnaissance patrol that had been surrounded and pinned down. The patrol team climbed aboard, grabbing on to rocket-pods and skids, and Taylor carried them to a safe location before landing them back on the ground. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

President Joe Biden was slammed after he walked out of the room before the Medal of Honor ceremony was finished.

Biden was seen quickly walking out of the East Room of the White House after he had placed the Medal of Honor around the neck of retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor, 81. Taylor could be seen standing alone as the closing benediction began.

People took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to criticize the president for being disrespectful.

Former Navy SEAL and a contractor with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Shawn Ryan wrote that Biden’s “lack of respect” is “appalling.”

“Pardon my French… But what a f*cking idiot,” Ryan wrote. “The continuous lack of respect Biden has for anyone is appalling. Hawaii, Service members, active shooter victims, the list goes on.”

“Guys stop pretending this is normal,” Ellen Carmichael, the president of a communications firm wrote.

“This is Vietnam War hero Captain Larry Taylor (Ret.),” Keith Malinak, the executive producer of The Blaze wrote. “He is now a Medal of Honor recipient who in June 1968, as an Army pilot flew a Cobra attack helicopter into heavy enemy fire to rescue four service members.”

Malinak added that Capt. Taylor had also “earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star and two Distinguished Flying Crosses for his action that day.”

“Captain Taylor, on behalf of Americans everywhere, I apologize that the US president is a complete and total f**kwad,” Malinak added.

On June 18, 1968, Taylor received a call for help from a four-man squad that was surrounded by roughly 100 enemy soldiers, as he was flying an AH1-G Cobra attack helicopter in Vietnam, according to a press release from the Department of Defense (DoD).

In order to see the men, he requested they “launch a flare” which would not only help him to locate them, but give the enemy their location.

After battling with enemy soldiers on low-fuel and firing “thousands of rounds” of ammunition, Taylor landed the helicopter, with the goal of carrying the men onboard.

“The two-man Cobra is not designed to carry passengers, but Taylor was going to try,” Biden said during the ceremony, according to the press release. “Under heavy enemy fire, Taylor landed the helicopter at the extraction point and the four soldiers climbed on the skids and rocket pads.”
