A tree-hugging Democratic senator posted a photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, in an attempt to “protect” the planet.
Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) was seen hugging a wall of greenery while making the point that people should take care of the planet.
“We only have one planet,” Hickenlooper wrote. “Let’s protect it!”

Hickenlooper’s post, which did not provide additional information, comes the week of the 2023 United Nations (U.N.) Climate Change Conference, otherwise known as, COP28, is set to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
While world leaders such as Pope Francis, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak are set to attend the conference, President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will not be in attendance, according to The New York Times.
Hickenlooper previously attended the 26th U.N. Climate Conference held in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021, according to a press release from Hickenlooper.
During the conference, Hickenlooper advocated for putting a price on carbon, which would help capture the costs of greenhouse gas emissions. The senator also celebrated the passing of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
