Jon Stewart has been a cut up when talking politics, but he took that notion too seriously Monday on “The Daily Show.”

Stewart cut his hand while hosting the show and talking about  the Department of Government Efficiency is dealing with pharmaceutical subsidies. He got upset and smashed a coffee mug on the desk, cutting his hand, according to NBC News.

“The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege to negotiate the price of 10 of their drugs,” Stewart said. “And 10 is all of them, right? It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket, and that the American people didn’t expect that we should negotiate for all their f—— drugs, because we have already paid for them with our subsidies! It is f—— insane!”

That’s when Stewart smashed the mug on his desk.

“Come on!” he yelled, adding, “I’ll be going to the hospital soon.”

He continued with his monologue before lifting his injured hand above the desk.

“Ohhhhhh!” the audience said when it saw how bloody his hand was.

“It’s fine!” he said.

“The Daily Show” shared a snippet of what happened on the program’s Instagram story.

“TONIGHT: Jon Stewart takes on DOGE and makes some ‘cuts’ of his own. He’s fine. We hope,” the show wrote.
